Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed has the Windows
firewall enabled (by default) as a security feature.
The Windows firewall, when enabled, can prevent KaVoom!
(or any network-aware software) from working properly.
To solve the problem, you must configure the Windows
firewall to treat KaVoom! as an exception (i.e., a program
that is allowed to receive connections over the network).
For KaVoom! KVM, this must be done on the secondary
computers. For KaVoom! KM and Desktop One, this must
be done on all computers.
From the Start menu, select Control Panel and Security
Center.

From the items at the very bottom of the window, select
Windows Firewall.
Here we see that the Windows firewall is on (which is
the default setting after SP2 is installed). If your
computer is protected behind another firewall (such
as a hardware firewall) then you might want to turn
the Windows firewall off entirely. Otherwise, select
the Exceptions tab.

To add KaVoom! as an exception, press the Add Program
button.
Assuming that you have already installed KaVoom! at
this point, you will see it in the list. Select it and
then press OK.
Your Windows firewall is now configured to let other
computers connect to KaVoom. Remember that for KaVoom!
KVM, this procedure is not necessary on the primary
computer, just on the secondaries.
