KaVoom! EVS is a keyboard-video-mouse solution for people
who want to use an external (hardware) switch for video, but
a software switch for the keyboard and mouse.
An external video switch is either:
 |
A
monitor video-input switch. Some monitors have two
or more video input connectors, and a switch on the monitor
allows the user to select between them. Or, |
 |
 |
A
KVM switch. A regular KVM switch (with no keyboard
or mouse attached) can be used to select which computer
you want to view on your monitor. |

KaVoom!
EVS is not useful to you if you have just a single monitor
and a hardware KVM switch. You can just plug your keyboard
and mouse into the KVM switch and they get switched along
with the monitor.
However, let's suppose that you have a monitor with two video
input connectors, each connected to a different computer.
In the old days you would need to have a keyboard and mouse
plugged into each computer, and you would move from one keyboard
to the other whenever you switched the monitor from one computer
to the other. KaVoom! EVS acts as a keyboard-mouse switch,
allowing you to use the same keyboard and mouse for both computers.
We also have a customer who has four monitors and ten computers,
and each monitor is connected to each computer through a KVM
switch, giving him four 10-monitor systems. The hardware KVM
switches allow him to switch
each monitor independently so that at any given time he is
looking at selected portions of each computer. KaVoom! EVS
synchronizes the mouse on all computers so that regardless
of which monitor or which computer he's looking at, the mouse
appears in the expected position. KaVoom! EVS also switches
the keyboard and mouse buttons so that as he moves his mouse
from one monitor to another, the keyboard and mouse buttons
are always active on the expected computer.
KaVoom! EVS is currently used by stock traders who have many
computers and many monitors. Contact
us if this sounds like it might be the solution you're
looking for.
